Olam Group’s food and beverage ingredients business, ofi, maintained broadly stable earnings in H1 2026 despite lower cocoa and coffee input prices, market volatility, and a weaker US dollar against the Singapore dollar. The results highlight how shifting commodity prices, supply risks, and capital pressures are continuing to shape the operating environment for major food ingredient suppliers. ofi, which spans Cocoa, Coffee, Dairy, Nuts, Spices, and its food and beverages platform, recorded revenue of S$12.0 billion (US$9.38 billion), down 18.1%, mainly reflecting lower input prices, particularly for cocoa and coffee. EBIT reached S$509.7 million (US$398.5 million), compared with S$535.8 million (US$418.9 million) in H1 2025.

The companies also launched DL-185, a form of di-leucine peptide that performs similarly to leucine for muscle building. The ingredients are designed to address traditional challenges among plant proteins of undesirable off-flavors, grittiness, and opacity.

Nurtured Nuts Company has developed the world’s first gene-edited, low-allergen peanuts, accelerating safer food innovation. Together with AgriNetica and Brandvault360, the start-up has eliminated the major allergenic proteins in peanuts at the seed level. “Peanuts remain one of the most cost-effective and nutrient-dense protein sources available, and demand for plant-forward, high-protein foods has stayed strong,” Nurtured Nuts founder and CEO Bryant Williams tells Food Ingredients First.

Peru’s mandatory front-of-package (FOP) warning labels are reshaping the packaged food industry, pushing manufacturers to reformulate products with lower levels of sugar, sodium, and saturated fat, according to research. The findings are detailed in a new peer-reviewed pre- and post-operational study by the US-based University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Global Food Research Program (GFRP).

Against this backdrop, Bayer stresses the potential of self-care to improve health outcomes, expand access to care, and reduce pressure on health systems when it is effectively integrated. The company collaborated with Economist Enterprise on a recent report, “Making self-care work: integrating self-care into health systems.” This publication cites evidence that self-care practices can deliver around US$179 billion in annual economic benefits while helping countries move toward universal health coverage. It notes that self-care spans a wide spectrum, from healthy behaviors and preventive practices to digital tools, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, and self-monitoring.
